Raindrops On Roses and Whiskers On Kittens

Bright Copper Kettles and Warm Woolen Mittens….. OK , I confess, these are not my favourite things. I mean, I like raindrops, because I like rain. But do I like raindrops on roses? I’m not sure. Roses are pretty enough really, do they need raindrops on? Now you see my point right?
But the other stuff, whiskers…. mittens… kettles… Maria can keep those.
One of my favourite things happened earlier, while listening to my playlist. There I was, in my bath, painfully singing my heart out because in my head I am Celine Dion… in reality i’m just… Well I don’t know. I have nobody as bad as me to compare myself to, so I am that bad. Anyway, ironically enough, it was a slow, powerful Celine song that I had just finished singing.
Then… One Direction – Kiss You came on. What? Don’t look at me like that. No. Stop it. Stop it now. Listen to me….
One Direction are not the spawn of Satan as many would have you believe. They are just five young lads who happen to keep releasing catchy tunes. They are not doing anything wrong. They haven’t turned as twat-ish as Bieber yet. My seven year old loves them, and seeing her dance and sing puts a smile on my face. But I’m not going to pretend I like them because my daughter likes them. I like them of my own accord. What? Seriously… stop with the looks!
Are they The Beatles ? No. Have they ever claimed to be ? No. I mean… I will probably be burned at the stake for admitting my like for a manufactured pop band. But so be it.
They made me bath dance. Yes. You heard me. I danced, in the bath. And carried on singing terribly. It was fun. So that is one of my favourite things. Dancing and singing to cheesy pop songs.

Another favourite thing? Post. Oh wait, let me rephrase that… parcels. Not just post. Because post could mean bills and… no. So parcels. Especially parcels like this….

Late Christmas present. DC merchandise? Down with it! The first picture are his trademark pink sunglasses. I have to be honest, I think they are hideous actually but they are like … his thing so I will wear them with pride, when we eventually get sun. Yes, that’s right … I will wear them outside.

The second is a jelly bracelet with a bow tie. Adorable. My wrists are freakishly small, the bracelet goes past my elbow.

And the third? Just a little pencil signature from the man himself on a limited edition poster. Yes, I am fangirling. There were 1000 of these posters and I got number 238. And a signature. Did I mention I got the signature? We may as well marry now.

Yes, this is a freaking weird cartoon picture of me with the sunnies on. Enjoy.

Another of my favourite things would probably have to be my kids. I mean… they make the list. Just 😉

Leona is still unbelievably spotty and has come out with stuff like….

“Why do some of my spots look like they have bogeys in?” <<Nice right?
“Whoever invented Chicken Pox is horrible. I wish it was only him in the world that got chicken pox and nobody else.” <<Love how she automatically assumes the ‘inventor’ of Chicken Pox is a man!
“I don’t think I am ever going to wear a spotty skirt again.” <<Woah. Strong words.

And Lex is still Lex. I asked him something earlier which he didn’t hear, so he replied with….

“What did you say buddy?” He sounds like a TV cop from a bad 80’s show.

Another favourite thing of mine are volunteers. You have to be a special type of person to volunteer for stuff really don’t you? A selfless kind of person. Whether you volunteer in a charity shop, a theatre, a hospital…. I salute you. I can only hope to be like you one day.
And of course, the other favourite thing… the thing which often keeps me going and inspires me day by day. Reading and writing. I have to nip in town tomorrow and may as well spend the last of my vouchers. I will be getting the third Veronica Roth book Allegiant, and another book I have been wanting to read for some time now… The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. Looks amazing.

I will breathe in the book smell, and see if my new fangirl bookshop friend is at work 😉 I may even wear my DC bracelet so we can scream about it together. I know… could I be any more cooler?

This post turned out longer than I thought it would so… I am off to go stare at my signed poster some more.
